Mixed Fortunes for Adams

Swanmore's Martin Adams enjoyed a day of contrasting fortunes when winning the Hayling Golf Club Pro-Am.

Adams played some scintillating golf for the first fourteen holes of his round. Standing on the fifteenth tee he was six-under-par but the last four holes at Hayling were playing tough in a strong south-easterly wind. Three bogeys and a double bogey saw the Swanmore Trainee drop back to one-under-par and he was left to reflect on what might have been.

However as the day progressed heavy rain and the strong wind made Martin's score became a thing of dreams for the 33 other Professionals playing in the event. Parkstone's Martyn Thompson came closest to matching par with a one-over-par round of 72.

Thompson also won the Pro-Am with his team of Greg Britton, Brian Sweeney and Matt Gordon. Second place went to Rob Gowers (South Winchester) and his team of Rob Styles, Neil Drinkwater and Keith Larner.

Roger Tuddenham won last Friday's Rotary Club of SOTON AM CONNECT Charity Pro-Am at Romsey Golf Club.

Tuddenham was the only pro to match par in the event, organised by the Rotary Club of SOTON AM CONNECT.

Wraith Grant (Woodcote Park) took second place with Steve Richardson and Ben Stanbrough, Romsey's Pro and Manager, in joint third.

Richardson's team of Peter Price, Paul Baxter and Jon Hibberd won the pro-am with a twelve-under-par score of 126. Two ahead of Stanbrough's team of Mike Lavington, Barry Channel and Kevin Burnett-Whalley.

El Paraiso's Daniel Westermark won the 21st Hampshire PGA Overseas Pro-Am at San Roque on Friday (18/3).

Daniel finished one shot ahead of David Wilton (Muswell Hill) and Kevin Saunders (Brokenhurst Manor).

Wilton's team of Paul Graham, Mario Constantinou and Steve Walsom won the pro-am.

2nd Round - San Roque Golf Club

El Paraiso's Daniel Westermark has a three point lead at the halfway stage of the Hampshire PGA's 21st Overseas Pro-Am.

Ian Roper (Corhampton) and Kevin Saunders (Brokenhurst Manor) lie in joint second place.

David Wilton's team lead the Pro-Am.

The third round takes place today (Thursday) at La Canada GC. The Final round is on Friday at San Roque.

1st Round - La Canada Golf Club

David Wilton (Muswell Hill) and Mike Steadman (Swingrite Golf) lead the way after the first round of the 21st Hampshire PGA Overseas Pro-Am on Spain's Costa del Sol.

Both Pros shot two-over-par rounds on a blustery day at La Canada Golf Club, near San Roque.

Wilton's team lead the 72 hole pro-am with an impressive 84 points.

The second round takes place on Wednesday at San Roque Golf Club.

The El Higueral Bowmaker Tournament on Sunday was won by Shaun Hall (The County), who shot an amazing seven-under-par 65 at El Higueral GC near Marbella. Dean Jones was the leading amateur.

Ablett & Edwards win Four-Ball Title

The Lee-on-the-Solent pairing of James Ablett and Rob Edwards won the Hampshire PGA's Winter Four ball title at South Winchester Golf Club.
Ablett and Edwards shot a five-under-par better-ball score of 67 to finish one shot ahead of Peter Hammond and James Mitchell (both Shanklin & Sandown).
There was a three-way tie for third place between George Porter & Craig Matthew, Andrew Cloke & David Porter and Eddy Rawlings & Chris Hudson.

Hockley Golf Club

The Annual Jack Wells Challenge Match... between the Hampshire PGA Professionals and Assistants was played at Hockley Golf Club.

The match, postponed in December because of snow, finished in a 2-2 draw with the Assistants retaining the trophy they won in 2009.

91 year-old former HPGA Secretary Jack Wells presented the trophy to Andrew Cloke (Assistants Captain) and Chris Hudson (HPGA Captain).
